One of the popular Bank in Tanzania, which offers Islamic services through its Islamic window, is conducting a Lottery to get 2 Muslims whom the Bank will cover
all their pilgrimage cost this year.
Muslim
scholars including Sheikh Yousef al-Qaradhawi, view lottery as gambling, hence,
haram in Islam. It falls in the gharar category. Gharar means uncertainity, which
is forbibben in Islamic Shariah.
The
Holy Quran forbids gambling. Here is what the Quran says in Suratul Al-Maidah, 5:90-
“O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling,
[sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are
but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.”
Whose fault is this, Shariah finance board members
or illiterate lay Muslims?
Could Prophet Mohammad pbuh, do such in his life time?
A LOT OF QUESTIONS ABOUT ISLAMIC FINANCING TO FOLLOW AFTER THIS ONE. BECAUSE A LOT ARE NOT YET SAID OR WRITTEN BY NEITHER EVEN MUSLIMS SCHOLARS THEMSELVES OR NON-MUSLIMS ABOUT IT.
I would like to hearing from you soon. Please send me ur answers: dmwankemwa@gmail.com
