Despite the fact that Muslim scholars have not yet defined properly
the clear meaning of interest in the Islamic economy, a lot of information is
hindered to Non-Muslims about the operations and restrictions as stipulated by
the Islamic Law (Shariah Law).
Islamic Banking is also known as Shariah Finance Compliance. It
operates under the slogan of Non-Interest Banking System.
Most of their clients, especially Non-Muslims, do not know how
Shariah affects their economy and faith in Islamic Banking.
The following are some areas where is strictly forbidden to spent
money from Shariah Islamic Banking:
1.
In any transaction or business which has a connection with the nation
of Israel.
This is because in 1969 Islamic countries
found-The Organization of the Islamic Conference-O.I.C (now Cooperation) whose main objectives was to fight against Israel. O.I.C has two financial institutions: Islamic
Development Bank-I.D.F, and Islamic Development Fund-I.D.F. Their objectives
are to mobilize the movements against Israel. The Quran states:
“Verily, you
will find the strongest among men in enmity to the
believers(Muslims) the Jews and those who are Al-Mushrikun……” (Al-Maidah, 5:82 The Noble Quran)
Therefore any business relations to Israel or
transactions, means to empower the enemy economically.
This indicates that if a Non-Muslim is a client in Islamic Banking, automatically becomes an enemy of Israel. You will never
hear such statement from the Islamic Banking.
1.
A Non-Muslim is not granted a loan to build an apartment which is
higher than the houses of Muslims around him/her.
Sayyiduna ‘Aaidh ibn ‘Amr came together with Abu Sufyan (who probably
was not a Muslim as yet) on the Day of The conquest of Makkah. The Sahabah
said, ‘Abu Sufyan and ‘Aaidh ibn ‘Amr [have come]’Rasulullah (sallallahu
‘alayhi wa sallam) said, ‘Aaidh ibn ‘Amr and Abu Sufyan have come [mentioning
the Sahabi first], Islam is more honorable than that, Islam will always
be superior and nothing will be more superior than it.”
(Fathul Bari, before Hadith: 1354. Also see Faydul Qadir, Hadith:
3063 and Al Maqasidul Hasanah, Hadith: 109).
This is what happened in the Archipelago of Zanzibar. The tallest Palace
was built for Sultan Said Barghash, the Second Sultan of Zanzibar, in 1883.
When Bishop George Tozer of the Anglican Church, was building the church, he
was forbidden to elongate the minaret of the church building, because that
would mean to go against the Shariah of Islamic superiority.
2.
A Non-Muslim is not allowed to
be an agent of any business whose capital has been generated from the Shariah
Finance institutions.
Islamic Banking fears Non-Muslims, will spend money and sell products
against the Islamic Shariah. From this point you can notice the enforcement of
the Halal Islamic logo, in many products including water in different Super
Market world wide. Non-Muslim producers especially Jews and Christians must obtain this Halal Logo from the Islamic
economy institutions, where they pay Islamic levy (Jizyah) for using the
Islamic logo. The Quran states:
“Fight against those who (1) believe not in Allah, (2) nor in the
Last Day, (3) nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His
Messenger (4) and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth (i.e. Islam)
among the people of the Scripture (Jews
and Christians), until they pay the
Jizyah with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued.” (The Noble
Quran, Tawbah, 9:29) (The emphasize is mine).
